Personal Statement

My name is Timeka Jordan I'm one of Barbados' most talented 100m junior sprinters and I am 17 years old.  My achievements in athletics came gradually with hard work, determination, dedication and becoming a student of the game. My track goal is to run under 11. 80 next season and achieve personal best at each meet as the season progresses.

I am very academic and has always been able to balance track with my school work.  I am a well rounded highly qualified student  with qualifications in varying disciplines all of which I appreciate and apply in my daily activities especially track. I intend to study kinesiology, Exercise Science or Sports Management as I feel it's important to understand movement of the body and the benefits of exercise to improve overall health and athletic performances. In addition these fields of study are relatively  new and I find them very exciting and interesting and critical in track and field especially in the development of injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.

What makes me different:

  1. My physical structure, I am short but very powerfully built.

  2. I have an explosive start it's my strength.

  3. I love and appreciate the importance of drills  I  execute them well and I believe in perfecting them.

  4. I am a fast learner and  I listen I work well with my coaches and I respect and trust their judgement and decisions.

  5. I love to train my biggest motivation to do well.

  6. Finally  I am not afraid of failure or disappointment they make me work harder I get up and just keep going to achieve my goals. I never quit.

I can add value and recognition to any school's track team through quality performances,  good work ethic and commitment to the overall success of the track program. I am a leader, motivator, team player. I am very disciplined and focused.  I have great potential and I am ready to take it to the next level.

I look forward to the opportunity to compete  in the USA's collegiate circuit where I can constantly improve my times, make nationals and perfect the execution of my races while adding valuable points to my team while making my coaches proud. You will get four years of commitment, outstanding performances on the track and a graduate that will make you proud. I guarantee it.
