I am the hardest worker you will have on your team. I took up track and cross country fairly late, but I love running. I played freshman field hockey in high school after taking up that sport just two years earlier. After my freshman season, I figured out that my high school field hockey program was not the right fit for me.
Known for my speed in field hockey, I was encouraged to try out for track. (I'm half-Jamaican, so maybe that's where I get my speed?) I quickly fell in love with track, and cross country, and made a very competitive Varsity team that practices hard six days a week. I thrived on the team even despite the fact that I have asthma. I run for a great coach, and with my closest friends. I consistently try to improve my running and my times -- with good success. In 2020 we all dealt with the limitations of COVID-19, and then in the Spring of 2021, I injured my foot and was not allowed to run for six weeks. Despite these obstacles, after I returned from injury, I voluntarily extended my track season and came back strong posting PR's in both the 400 and 800 in June of 2021. I am confident I will continue to improve my times in the 2021-2022 season.
Academics are the most important aspect of my upcoming college career. I am also an extremely hard worker in school, posting a 3.98 core GPA, and 4.2 weighted GPA. I am driven to similarly succeed academically in college as I prepare for my career.
Ultimately, I work my hardest towards anything asked of me, and I consistently give 110 percent of my overall effort.
I would love to be a part of a women's track team in college. I enjoy the effort it takes to improve, and I love the work ethic and camaraderie a team provides.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and personal statement. I look forward to speaking with you and being a part of your college team.
