Hi, my name is Ava Staley, I am a sophomore at Winters Mill High School in Westminster Maryland, where I am a member of the varsity track and field team. I was introduced to track and field at age 9. After a few seasons I decided to give high jump a try and haven’t stopped since. During my career so far, I have competed twice in the AAU Junior Olympics. I had the honor of qualifying and competing at the 2A state meet both seasons my freshman year. I have been known to perform well under pressure and work hard both during practice and during the off season. Each season I set a goal for myself and work hard to meet that goal. I am a very coachable athlete and absorb coaching feedback and guidance. I also volunteer as a coach for the club team where I started out, I have great pride knowing I have played a part in the success of the kids and their experience with the sport. I am also an honor student, a member of the National Art Honor society, and volunteer for a local organization in my spare time. My goal is to continue my sport in college while pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering.
