My name is aliyah ferguson, i'm a 5'3 sprinter/hurdler from huron high school in ann arbor, MI with a weighted GPA of 3.1. As a student, I strive for success in all that I do—academically, athletically, and extracurricularly—while also attempting to lead positively among my peers and my community. I'm searching for a university where I can successfully achieve the right balance between sprinting as well as hurdles and in the classroom.
As a freshman, i constantly got better within the indoor and outdoor season with continuously pr's. I ended the season off with PR's of 100 meter dash being 12.81 200 meter dash being 26.78 300 meter hurdles being 47.19. i qualified for my first regional qualifier for all 3 individual events plus the A 4x1 and A 4x2. qualifying for state my freshman year for the 4x1 was amazing i knew i wanted more for myself, i ran at nationals competing 3 relays and i ended up being all american in 2 of them, i continued to practice over the summer with more hurdle work and sprinting work making sure i was prepared for the upcoming indoor season.
Starting my sophomore year with Indoor meets, I ended that season with a PR of 60 meter dash 8.18, 200 meter dash indoor-27.32 and outdoor being 26.20, 60 meter hurdles i ran 9.20, 100 hurdles i ran 14.83, 300 meter hurdles i ran 46.88, 100 meter dash 12.77.i qualified for indoor states in the 60 meter hurdles making myself 8th in the state. i qualified for my first individual event at indoor nationals the 60 meter hurdles running the 4x2 as well. running for outdoor i finally qualified myself for states in the 100 meter hurdles making myself 7th in the state, i also qualified for 100 meter hurdles for outdoor nationals but sadly i was not able to make it. my season didn't stop there i tried out for AAU in the summer and made junior olympics for both 100 meter dash as well as the 100 meter hurdles.
My objective for the indoor season, which begins in my junior year, has been to maintain my previous year's PR's and also gain new ones. I've competed that or better, i've ran a pr of 9.14 in the 60 meter hurdles making me 6th in the state also running a pr of 8.01 in the 60 meter dash, also running a 200 meter pr for indoor running 26.88. i've also qualified for indoor nations running 60 meter hurdles can't wait to see how that turns out. Anticipating my junior outdoor season with excitement!
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction! As I would like to pursue a career in sports communication, I am going to continue to strive academically and raise that bar to new pr's in the coming years!
Sincerely,
aliyah ferguson, Class of 2025
