When we won the state championship my freshman year, I knew. I knew that running was something I wanted to do, not just for fun or to stay in shape, but really do. That day was perhaps the happiest day yet in my life, and I realized that nothing brings me more joy than crossing the finish line. My senior teammates at the time served as my primary inspiration. They finished as number one and two in the state, and while they were wonderful athletes, they were even better role models. Their work ethic and commitment to success proved to be the best example of who I wanted to be as an upperclassman. Over the years, we've kept in touch, them helping me along the way to be the best student athlete I can be.
I'd like to say that I've made them proud.
While I truly do love the sport, I also love to learn. I am as committed in the classroom as I am on the track, a trait I believe to have served me well. I aspire to continue such commitment and driven energy in college, and I look for a program and school that will help me facilitate such physical and academic growth.
