Hello, my name is Ari James, class of 2025, and I look forward to continuing my academic and athletic career at the next level. Throughout my high school career, I've participated in two years of JV and one year of Varsity basketball, and by next summer, I will have completed 4 years of Varsity Track and field. I have the school girls shot put record at 35ft 6in, and my current discus PR is 101ft 7in. I have been voted girls' field event MVP 3 times in a row and have placed at every conference meet over the last 3 seasons. My biggest goals this upcoming season are to go to states and surpass 40ft in shot put and 125ft in disc.
Despite not performing at the level my body is capable of quite yet, and the learning curve in my shot put marks over my sophomore and junior seasons, I take pride in my coachability and perseverance. As you might notice in my compilation video posted below, I’ve competed using multiple approaches, and I am still open-minded and working with my coaches to find what will work best for me. Additionally, I've been consistently lifting over the past year, and my current PRs are: 140lb Bench, 225 lb Back Squat, and 335 lb TB Deadlift.
Academically, I plan on studying sociology and continuing my studies in Spanish. Upon graduation, I will have completed 6 AP exams, 8 total AP courses, and will receive my Michigan Seal of Biliteracy in the Spanish language and 15 years of Spanish immersion.
