Personal Statement
I absolutely love running, it is one of my biggest passions. Throughout my many seasons of track and cross country, I have learned many things that will benefit any team I become a part of. I have been chosen to be a captain for both cross country and track and that opportunity has taught me many things. By being a leader, I learned that everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, but that doesn’t make one person better than another person. Every athlete brings something important to his or her team. I have also learned what it truly means to be a teammate. To me, a teammate is not just someone who is also a runner on my team. A teammate is someone who helps to better you and support you and you do the same for them. Throughout my years, I have also learned that anything can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Each year, I put a lot of hard work and dedication into my running and schooling, and it has always paid off. I’m not afraid of hard work and I will do whatever it takes to be the best that I can be.
Although I am proud of how much I have accomplished thus far, I am looking forward to pushing myself further and competing at a higher level. I would love to see how much I can improve as an athlete and how well I can perform on a college cross country or track team. I am ready to be pushed harder than I ever have before, and to put more effort into my running career than I already do. One of the few things that come before my athletics is my academics. College, for me, is to get a degree so that I can get a job in the medical career. With that being said, finding a school that will fit me academically and that offers a major in nursing is critical to me.
My academics, dedication, drive, leadership skills and positivity will be an asset to any team that I become a part of. I know I have what it takes to be a college student-athlete, and I would love an opportunity to prove that to you!
