Welcome to my profile!
My name is Heather Ryan and I will be starting my Senior year at Maple Grove Senior High School (MGSH) in the Fall of 2018. I am very interested in being a part of your college track team. Running is one of my life's biggest passions! You will see that throughout my high school and amateur track club competitions that I have been a great achiever and have a consistent history of improving my times.
I am an extremely determined and dedicated person. My coaches tell me that I work much harder than the average person. I show up early for practice and stay late working on my conditioning and technique. This commitment also applies to my grades and schoolwork. I arrive at school early and stay late to learn and work with my teachers to get a full understanding of the coursework and to get the most I can out of the class. I train year round with my club track team Track Minnesota Elite www.trackminnesota.com and their Maximum Impact Training organization called www.maximumimpacttraining.co. Outside of their training, I take it upon myself to do extra conditioning, eat healthily, and have fun with my friends and family. In the Fall, I enjoy managing and running during practices with the MGSH Cross Country team.
I had an excellent Spring of 2018! I PR’d in the 100mh with a 14.89 at the Hamline Elite meet (coming in 2nd place to the reigning high school state champion who is a Senior), was the Athlete of the Meet at the Minnetonka High School Invitational where I finished 1st in 100mh, 300mh, & the 4x100, and I recently won the Northwest Suburban Conference Championship (NWSC) 100mh and took 2nd place in the 300mh. I also have set two meet records in 2018; 1) in the 60mh at the Griak U of Minnesota Invitational, and 2) in the 100mh at Wayzata Relays while running into a strong head wind. I recently competed in the MSHSL Championships. I finished 5th in the 100mh (14.98) as well as 300mh where I PR'd with a 45.05 and set my high school's record.
This summer I will be running hurdles and sprints for my 3rd consecutive year at Track Minnesota Elite with the expectation of running in the AAU Junior Olympics for my 3rd consecutive year. Last year, I was awarded All American Honorable Mention.
Doing well in school has always been a very important pursuit. I study extremely hard and desire to learn as much as I can to have a career in medicine. I am proud to say that I currently have a 3.6 GPA. I have always taken Advanced Placement and Honors courses and plan to continue to take classes that push me to learn to my greatest ability.
Outside of school and track & field, I volunteer at my church teaching vacation bible school, visiting senior care facilities, and helping those in need with yard work and chores. I also regularly volunteer in Guest Services at the Maple Grove Hospital. I have always been involved in extra-curricular activities such as; Girl Scouts, a Premier traveling club soccer team through MapleBrook Soccer Association, a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), participant in my school's WiSH Club (Women in Stem and Healthcare), photography club, and more.
You can surely count on me to be an asset to your track and field program. I hope to hear from you!
Most sincerely,
Heather
