Personal Statement
I love cross country and trail running. My goal is to find a college that I can continue my love of running while I earn my education. In the future, I'd like to be a cross country coach so I can share my love of running with other people. I have been running local road races with my mom since I was 7 years old. My first 5k was when I was 9. My time was 23:42. In 7th grade, in my first year of Cross Country, I won every meet, except my first one, and went on to win the district championship. My 4k times were consistently in the top ten high school finishers. I still have a long way to go, and a lot of work to do, but I'm positive that I have a bright future in running.
To help achieve my goal, I take strength and conditioning classes three times a week. In these classes, I work on Olympic lifting to develop my strength, power and coordination. I also do CrossFit workouts to further enhance my cardio and strength.
Not only am I a strong runner, but I have good grades and high test scores. In 7th grade, I was projected to make a 27 composite score on the ACT. I will be taking the ACT this fall. Also, each year, I am an honor roll student and I have scored "advanced" in the state tests in both math and language every year I have taken them starting back to third grade.
