Personal Statement
Coaches, I come from a small town and my school doesn't even have 200 kids here. We do not have a track, or a high jump pit. Track is thrown aside in our athletics department. Last year the first practice I actually received that season was at my first meet. I cleared 4'8" and won the meet. After that we basically had to "sneak over" to a neighboring school so I could practice with a mat; and I got lucky to go once every two weeks. My weights coach says I have the potential to jump at least 5 feet even if not higher. The only thing stoping me is lack of practice, a small mental block, and not having a coach who is trained to teach me to jump. We learn by watching youtube videos and watching other athletes at meets. I make do with what I am given, and wouldn't give it up for anything. I am a very hard worker and I can be very competitive. Give me a chance and I believe I won't let you down!
