My name is Eva Engel, a 5'4" pole vaulter from Worth County R3 High School in Grant City, MO with a weighted GPA of 3.7. I am a student who tries to succeed in everything I do academically, athletically, and through activities, while trying to be a positive leader to my peers and in my community. Coming from a very small Class 1 school with limited opportunities, I try to find ways to get training in so I can succeed. Each week, 2x, I make a 4 hour round trip to "Just Vault" where I train with Todd Cooper. I am looking for a university where I can grow, giving me more tools to gain higher bars, gain a "track family", and where I can find the right balance between the classroom and pole vaulting.
As a freshman, I consistently vaulted 8-8'6" with a PR of 9'2" at the Missouri State Championship meet, placing me 5th. Qualifying for State was amazing, but I knew I wanted more.
Starting my sophomore year with Indoor meets, I attended some bigger high school meets such as; The University of Arkansas, Air Force Academy, and University of Kansas to gain a more competitive experience. High School season was consistent at 10’6” but did hit a PR of 11’ to break our High School record and ended the 2023 season with a State Championship for Class 1.
My Junior year, I set a goal to be consistent and last year's PR of 11'. Now that I have ended my season with another State Title, I feel like I met that goal and stayed very consistent at 11', ending the season with a PR of 11'6", breaking the school record again. I won 10 out of my 10 meets, was Conference Champion (record holder), District Champion, Sectional Champion and State Champion in Pole Vault along with a 4th Place in the 4x100. I am continuing to keep up with my training this summer, and will be ready for Senior year! My goal for my last year of high school is to vault 12'+ and hope to continue that growth into college, with a goal of 13'’+ and beyond!
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction! As I would like to pursue a career in Elementary Education, I am going to continue to strive academically and raise that bar to new heights in the coming years!
Sincerely,
Eva Engel, Class of 2025
