Living with asthma all my life has taught me not to let the hard things be the cause of failure. It has helped me to become a better athlete by knowing it is okay to fail, as long as you have given 100 percent of your best. During the State track meet this year it was an overwhelming experience for me but when I began my race I forgot all about that and just pushed myself to do what I knew I could do. It taught me not to be so mentally tough on myself before and after my races. I try to push myself beyond what I think I can do in all the sports that I have played over the years, whether it be competitive softball or track.
I got into track during my seventh grade year because I wanted to try something new. I ended up being really good at it and really enjoyed running more then I thought I would. It has helped me learn more about myself, my athletic ability and my overall technique. My academic goals in college are to do my best and get good grades. I think my unique skill is being able to connect to other people easily and also being able to learn new languages.
