Personal Statement
People describe me as a passionate and driven person that always strives to be the best I can be at whatever I take on. By the time I was 10 years old I was competing in tap dance internationally against the best in the world. Before the age of 13 I had competed in 8 events at the World Championships in Poland and Germany in tap, jazz, and contemporary dance achieving 2 gold medals. Now in high school I have started running and love competing in it and working at getting better. I have only been running for a year but as a freshman I was lucky enough to be able to get to state in both cross country and track. I made it to state running the 100H. I picked that event up at the end of the season, the week of conference. After competing in the 100 H four times I made it to state. This past year I competed in the 100H, 300H, 200M, 400M, 800M, 4X400, long jump and the 5K.
Outside of track and cross country I am also involved in theater, choir, and speech team. I am active in my church and I am currently the high school intern to the Director of NextGen & Outreach Ministries. I am involved in FCA at my school as well. I still work in dance but have moved into teaching others as my new challenge. I have been in the roll of the head tap teacher and tap choreographer since the age of 15 at the studio where I work.
I have just started my training as a runner and I know I have a lot of growth still ahead of me. This will be my 1st offseason/summer to train and get better. I know that I will continue to grow between now and when I graduate in 3 years; as well as while running for whichever university I end up at, as a member of their track and cross country teams.
