Personal Statement
Throughout my life I have always loved competing, whether it be on the track, soccer field or ski hill. Competing in sports has improved my leadership skills. These leadership skills have made me a better teammate on the track. My junior season was the first time I ran the mile in high school and the success I felt in the 1600 allowed me to push myself further in my other races. By adding the 1600, I was able to improve my other race times as well as have success in the mile. This feeling of accomplishment led me to consider pushing myself further by competing in college. I have watched my older brother compete in college baseball and the friendships and connections he formed through the sport allowed him to have a fun and memorable college experience. I think competing as a college student athlete would allow me to challenge myself outside the classroom and strengthen my overall college experience.
