I threw my first shot at the age of 7 while competing at a school carnival in Newcastle, Australia. I never would have guessed that small moment in time would eventually evolve into such an important aspect of my life. During my sophomore season, I earned the title of NIAA Sunset Regional Champion in the discus. It was the first time in my athletic career that I realized my potential ability to compete as a collegiate athlete. When I was growing up, I was the kid who tried every single sport, but never specifically excelled at any of them. In high school, I began focusing in on the sports I enjoyed the most. Volleyball, golf, and flag football all made the cut, but the love I had for track always prevailed over my other interests. My experience as a captain in other sports translated into my track and field career by teaching me life-long necessities such as leadership, accountability, diligence, athleticism, and respect. Throughout high school, I learned how to balance my academics and athletics and I hope to find a collegiate program where I can continue this balancing act. I plan to locate a school where I have the opportunity to prioritize my academics while competing in collegiate throwing at an advanced level.
