I have been running since I was in fifth grade. There wasn't a real track team that I could compete on, but running on a recreational team still struck a spark to create my passion for running. I grew up in a small town and in a small town like Dunellen, you know everyone and bond like family. It's great to be surrounded by teammates and coaches who will always support you in all your events. No one in my family has ever been interested in running, but it became my favorite sport and I devoted all my time to tweaking my technique.
In the classroom, I have pushed myself to work hard to achieve the grades I deserve. I’ve taken higher level classes to challenge myself more like AP US History. I strive to maintain my GPA and current grades, which is very important to me. I am a teachable team member and I've helped train the younger athletes in elementary school to help them become better runners. I struggled myself through my high school career, but with the right training this past spring, I was able to break my PR for my 400m dash.
Competing on a varsity track team has taught me so much. From being a captain and leading other teammates in workouts, I’ve built more leadership skills. I want to be able to attend a college where I can push myself to succeed and be a helpful leader both on the track and in the classroom. I want to graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA and leave a impression on my town and school. I'm open to all options to find the perfect college to benefit my future and running career. I hope to become a successful role model to my younger runners and I hope to make my parents proud.
