Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Gabriella Toryk. I am a sophomore at Bishop Ahr High School in Edison, New Jersey. This will be my second year competing at the varsity level. As my sophomore track season begins, I have high expectations for myself. As a freshman I ran the 400m in 62 seconds, the 200m in 27.15 seconds, and the 100m in 13.12 seconds. As a freshman, I was satisfied with these times, but I really enhanced my training beginning this summer with my new sports performance trainer. Therefore, I am very excited for this upcoming season and I am looking forward to see where it takes me.
My goal as a student athlete is to reach my highest athletic potential by competing at the collegiate level. While track is a priority, academics are first and foremost. Currently, I am in the honors program and take the only available AP course for sophomores at my school. I have a 4.4 GPA and I am interested in a major in the STEM field.
My mom is my biggest supporter in everything I do. I would not be where I am in life without her. She makes me want to work harder everyday because I see how hard she works day in and day out to support me and her training lifestyle as a runner herself and an Ironman. She will have the biggest influence on me when I make my college decision and she will support me no matter what.
Service for others is also a large part of my life. I take every opportunity to do service in my school that I can. Over the summer, I did a week of service at my school. I have over 100 service hours for this school year already. I am in the Christian Social Action Club which also involves a lot of service.
Thank you for taking your time to read this!
