My name is Ayanna Garrett and I am currently a junior at Egg Harbor Township High School preparing myself for an extensive path as a student-athlete on the college level. Since my freshmen year of high school, I have ran Varsity for EHT Girls Track and Field. During the spring and winter seasons of 2013 I was injured due to a sprained hip flexor and could not run. This time I sat out gave me a chance to reflect on my sport and realize that anything can happen. I learned to be humble and this overall made me a stronger athlete and a more responsible student. I returned from my injury to aid my team in becoming Atlantic County Champions, Cape Atlantic League Champions, Sectional 4x100 Champions, breaking 3 school records, and made individual accomplishments of becoming the 200m Dash Atlantic County Champion 2nd team All County, and made Press of Atlantic Allstars list in the 2014 outdoor spring season.
Today,I am a dedicated and driven individual who is always looking forward to a challenge and take pride in facing them at my full potential. I am ambitious and work just as hard in the class room as I do on the track so my grades also reflect my abilities. In college I want to major in Civil Engineering and in the future I want to take my degree internationally. Also, this track season I am focusing on improving my performance and hoping to break my own records. My commitment to my education and my sport is what will keep me grounded and focused and make me a good candidate for recruitment.
