Taylor Rasmussen '12 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Taylor Rasmussen and i started competing in track and field my freshman year of high school. My oldest brother, Corey, did track and field his high school years and when he was a senior and i was a freshman he told me I should try it. I've always been the type of person who could try a sport and figure out how to become good right away. I didn't realize how hard throwing a shot put was though. Corey showed me the basic technique and my first throw was already 24 feet! To me this was exciting because i was already the third best on the team and being as competitive as I am noticed the two girls ahead of me have been doing this most of their lives. Next, i tried discus. Discus was harder for me because I am not very graceful and used my arm to much so the disc didn't usually stay in bounds. My sophomore year I made it to states and was extremely excited, but got nervous when i stepped into the circle. My junior year i made it to states again and got a PR of 92 feet. Besides track, I cheer. I cheer for football, basketball, and competition. Competitive cheerleading is my favorite because its all about my team and were not cheering on another team to victory, were cheering to win for ourselves. When it comes to college I do not want to go to a small school and my dream is to do track and field or cheerleading. I plan on excelling this year in my sports so that I can get into a good college with a good team. I love schools that are in the mountains or near a beach. Location doesn't really matter to me. I am a very positive and happy person. I like to support my team mates as much as I can because I like to see them succeed. I feel negative energy only holds back a team so I am never negative. I like to think of myself as a leader, last year i was captain for cheerleading and this year I am an assistant captain, because I take charge but at the same time don't get mad.
