My junior year was definitely one to remember. It all started with placing 4th as a team in The NJSIAA Cross Country Sectional Championship and advancing to NJSIAA Cross Country Group Championship, and then competing in Groups. My mom got me into running when I was in middle school and had me try out for the track and cross country team. When I was in middle school, I also ran 2 half marathons with my mom. I found out shortly after, that I love running because it's a great stress reliever, and it really opens up your mind. We also found out that the more activities that I participate in, the higher my grades become. Academics are very important to me, and I work really hard at getting good grades while being involved in sports.
Running in general has helped me focus more, become a better individual, and develop great friendships with my teammates. I love my team just as much as I love running. We're always cheering each other on during races and pushing each other during a race. I don't know what I'd do without my teammates and their endless support. I'm also a great leader. I was asked to be captain of my cross country team my junior and senior years. I loved leading my team to sectionals, being able to run my heart out, and enjoy an amazing experience with my friends. Running has filled my life with joy and endless smiles, and I'm hoping for that to continue during my college career.
