My name is Tori Benson. I attend Sweet Home Senior High School and play track and field. I started track and field in 2018 when I was in the 7th grade. My role on the track team was to throw. I quickly became one of the best female throwers in my middle school. In 2020 and 2021 my freshman and sophomore years of high school I signed up for varsity track, but that season was cut short because of COVID. My junior year I signed up again for track and I worked harder to make up for lost time and I became better than before. I advanced to sectionals my first full year of varsity track ranking 8th place. My true goal was for states, but another female thrower threw farther than me by .5. I then decided to work much harder on my technique during the summer, and I am positive my technique has advanced enough for me to be much better in my upcoming senior year. I took private lessons over the summer for throwing and I’ve thrown passed my PR in the junior Olympics. I am excited that all my hard work is paying off. I would love to do college track and field. I plan to continue working hard and reach heights in this division of sports.
