Alexandra Thomas '19 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Alexandra Thomas and I am a junior at Tappan Zee High School. I started running in 7th grade when I was on modified cross country and track. I fell in love with the sport and have run on varsity since 8th grade. I am super dedicated and I have become a stronger runner each year and hope to continue running at the next level!

I am very committed to my academics and I am looking for a school that has a balance of both academics and athletics. I am very team oriented and have really close relationships with my teammates and coaches. I have been a league champion in both cross country 5k and track in the 3000 meter, 1st team All-County multiple times, ran in 3 state meets, 2 cross country and 1 indoor track and received 3 time All-state awards. I placed 13th this past indoor state meet in the 3000. I have also been MVP on my team multiple times as well as Rookie Of The Year and I am going to be a captain this cross country season. I currently hold the school record in the indoor 3000m, the outdoor 3200m, and the indoor 2 mile. Not only do I run longer events, I also often run the 1500 meter where I achieved a personal best this year and was 4th in my sectional meet. I am also very versatile in that I run 4X800’s very often and this year our team was 1st team all-county with our fastest time yet. In meets I am often running multiple events to do whatever it takes for my team. I was apart of the team that won Leagues for the first time in school history my freshman year and this year as a junior, we became the 3 time League Champions. I am very proud of my team and can’t wait for some more exciting times this coming year!

I am taking and am gong to be taking multiple honors classes and AP classes. I am very determined and focused in the classroom. I strive to do my best. I am also very involved in my school by being in National Honor Society and many individual subject honor societies. I am also apart of many different clubs such as Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse, Leo Club, Peer Leaders and more where I am very involved in my community as well with community service. I would really like to find a team that is focused both on academics and athletics and is a program who wants to achieve big goals with a close-knit and determined team.
