The beginning of my running career was a rather strange one. Prior to starting track, I had been playing softball for about 5 or so years. 6th grade me was so excited when my county decided that 6th graders were allowed to play sports(in the past you had to be in 7th grade) so I automatically went to try out for the softball team. I was incredibly upset the day I found out I didn’t make it. My PE teacher knew I was pretty sad about it and said “You know, if you are looking for something to do you could try track”. That’s where it all began.
Ever since that day I have worked for so many hours to be the best I can be. I stay extra hours after practice, I go practice by myself on the weekends after work, and I practice during the off season as much as possible. My motivation stems from my successes and the progress I see myself making every day. Success doesn’t always have to be something like getting first place in a meet. For me, a success can be something as small as getting little parts of my high jump technique perfected. Even in school this has been the case for me. I try my hardest on every assignment and study when it’s needed. I strongly believe education is building the face of our world’s future and I want to be a part of that. That is the reason why I want to pursue a degree in pre-law or criminal justice in college. I want people and families to receive justice. I want to make that change in someone’s life.
