Personal Statement
From an early age, I have lived a healthy and athletic lifestyle. I enjoy learning technical skills starting with gymnastics, gaining all around core body strength and bonding with engaged and fun teammates. I believe my success is a result of my positive attitude, “can do” spirit, and coachability knowing that I can always learn, grow and improve.
I have been blessed with the gift of athleticism coupled with a strong work ethic. As a youth, I worked hard for nearly 20 hours a week and earned a gymnastics State Championship. From there I ventured out to try other sports like competitive cheer, cross-fit, and lacrosse. I even tried girl’s wrestling (my brother was a Division I college wrestler) and earned a runner-up finish at the Athena Nationals wrestling tournament with 4 wins by pin.
In the fall of 2018, influenced by my cousin who jumped at Ohio State University, I tried Pole Vault and was hooked! I am now dedicated to the sport and am fortunate to have a great High School coach (he trained recent Big 10 PV champion) and Club Coach who are helping me advance. In my first full year, I placed at the Ohio state tournament and was ranked the #22 sophomore in the U.S. based on 12"4". Most importantly I found THE sport I love the most!!
Outside of pole vault, I work at a pottery store and volunteer at Mid-Ohio Food Bank to help those in poverty stop from being hungry. I also love to wake surf behind our boat and just hang out with friends and be silly.
Academically, I am a solid student having earned a 3.7 cumulative GPA (a 4.0 GPA as a junior). I also have a strong interest in sciences particularly dentistry. Therefore I joined a special part-time two-year program that will lead to my State Dental Assisting Certificate. I want to take this interest to the next level in college while helping lead a program to success on the track.
