Personal Statement
I began playing basketball in the third grade. While using running to keep myself in shape for basketball I discovered I was pretty good at it. During my eighth grade basketball season I suffered an ACL tear. While that event felt devastating at the time it helped me realize an appreciation for sports I hadn’t felt before. It taught me the value of hard work and what kind of dedication is needed to overcome adversity. With only two years of high school experience so far, I’ve already won several awards for “hardest working” and “most improved athlete” which speaks to my work ethic. As a sophomore my leadership skills were recognized by my teammates as they unanimously voted me team captain for my cross-country team.
I am confident I have the talent to compete at the next level. My character, strong work-ethic and natural leadership skills would positively impact the image the program would display on the track, in the classroom and in the community. In return I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me at a college that will have me well prepared success in my professional career.
