To sum my running career up, I have gone from competing in local races in my hometown of Orlando, Florida, to competing against other Northern European International Schools on my track and cross country team at the International School of Amsterdam for four years. It then continued when I moved to the world’s running capitol of Portland, Oregon my sophomore year. Here, I saw how I fit into this highly competitive environment, and began to see that my dream of running at a collegiate level could become a reality.
In experiencing these moves, I have definitely grown as an individual. I am more confident, and comfortable in new situations; as well as I believe I am able to adapt easily to new situations. In Amsterdam, I was exposed to people from many different cultures and I now have friends who span the globe. These are qualities I am proud of and can benefit me in the future.
All in all, I am excited for what my future holds and I am looking forward to a college career to see where my running takes me next.
