My name is Ashley Kane, and I am apart of the 2023 class of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. I have been running track for 5 years now, and it has taught me so many life skills. I learned self-discipline and commitment. Even though track is an individual sport, I learned the value of cheering on my teammates and lifting them up when their time was not what they wanted. Outside of track, I have played travel soccer for 10 years, and I have worked at Chick-fil-A for almost two years now. In addition to my passion for track, I enjoy golfing with my dad and ski trips out west.
I am different because I am tenacious and dedicated. Track is my first sport, and I can’t imagine not running in college. I am the type of athlete who never gives up, and I constantly set goals for myself. For example, at the end of my track season in my sophomore year, I received the dedication award because even when I was diagnosed with COVID-19 during my track championships, I still showed up to every practice. Also, I was honored to receive the MVP award for high school soccer my freshman and sophomore year. Similarly in my academics, my determination led me to achieve the French award and be accepted into the National French Society. If I were to run at the collegiate level, my goal would be to accept constructive criticism to not just improve my times, but also to improve as a runner.
