Running is my passion!
Hi, my name is Gabby Audi, and I have been running competitively since 6th grade! As a child, I participated in many road runs, which is when I fell in love with running. After moving to our current house in Sinking Spring, I was devastated to find out that I had to wait until 6th grade to join the CYO track team! Many years of tennis, softball, horseback riding, and soccer later, I found myself on the track. I started out sprinting the 100m, which continued into my middle school track career. The winter of my sophomore year of high school, everything changed! My track coach pulled me aside during preseason and "suggested" I try mid-distance. I decided to try it out, and ended up falling in love!! I spend my whole indoor season and most of my outdoor season focused on the 400m, and it wasn't until the end of the season when I remembered that same coach had told me I would excel at the 800m. Putting my trust in my coach, I tried the tumultuous half-mile race and, once again, fell head-over-heels in love!
Fast forward to post season, and I had earned my spot on the girl's 4x800m relay team! We ran a 1st place time in counties, but our coach didn't think we were fast enough. Next week at districts, we were running with a slightly different team! A whole new relay team, put together at districts! We ended up smashing our school record, our county record, and placing 2nd at districts! On to states! The following week at states, our amazing team ran an even faster time at the semifinals! This was when I ran a 2:20, my fastest time yet (I had been getting faster with each race)! Unfortunately, our relay team did not place in finals because two of our relay members ran the 2 mile only one hour before the 4x800m. This did not deter me from sprinting my heart out and running my fastest split ever- 2:16! I can not explain to you the feeling of absolute joy I had that day!
I will work to my absolute potential to reach that fantastic feeling once again, and I cannot wait for this year's track season!!
