Hi my name is Janelle Wonganya. I am 16 years old and I'm attending Summit High School. I will be a Sophmore in 2017-2018 School Year. I am an all round athlete. I played soccer for about 5 years, but I stopped playing it because I was so caught up in track. I also play volleyball for my school and my parents are working on putting me in select Volleyball. I have been running track since I was 7 years old and ever since then, I have been aspired to compete at the Olympic level. I know that when I make it big in college as a track star, it will change my whole life.
On the track and in the classroom, I try to lead my peers by a positive example by being a leader. During practice, there's not a time I'm not focused. I am always working on important skills that will make me faster and stronger. As an athlete, I am very coachable and I always work as hard as I can on any team I am apart of. Outside of school, I volunteer at local youth camps and clubs such as the Boys and Girls club. I like helping younger children with their work and helping them study.
I want to attend a university that will push me to do my best in the classroom and on the track & field. I want to attend either Baylor, UT Austin A&M or Florida State University. While in college, I would like to major as a pediatric surgeon. As a short term goal, I'm striving to be number one in the nation for all of my events next year in Houston, Texas (2016). As a long term goal, I want to make it to the Olympics in 2020. In all I do as an athlete, I want to make parents, coach and peers proud of me
