Personal Statement
I ran my first race at 7 years old, and have enjoyed running ever since. I run because I enjoy challenges, and I have always found that running pushes me to be the best athlete that I can be. I also enjoy running because of the relationship aspect, such as practicing with my team, bonding with my coach, and facing competitors at meets. I have a strong work ethic for running, I’m an easily coachable athlete, and I’m always looking for new opportunities to learn from others. As a runner I have used my work ethic to overcome challenges.
In the summer before 8th grade, I suffered a broken foot after someone fell on me. This injury resulted in me missing 6 months of running and my entire cross country season for that year. After healing and a mentally and physically difficult 8th grade track season, I was able to accomplish many goals as a high school freshman, such as going to state in cross country and track in two events. I made it back to state in cross country as a sophomore but COVID stopped my track season.
In college, I plan to major in an area like Biology or Excercise Science to enable me to attend Physical Therapy school. As an athlete I overcame my foot injury with my PT and it inspired me to pursue physical therapy as my occupation. My goal is to help other athletes overcome their injuries and to improve their physical abilities.
I want to commit to a school to meet my academic standards, a team to challenge me, and also a coach that will help me improve as a runner and an individual.
