Siby Yao '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Siby Yao.  I'm 19 years old and from Gabon.  Two years ago I came to the USA for vacation.  We couldn't go home because of some bad men.  We are making a new life here thanks to the government.  

In Gabon we didn't have sports, but when I started school in America I wanted to try new sports.  I learned I was very good at Track and Field.  I like Track and Field because I can make goals and push myself - I just love it.

After only my 2nd season of Outdoor Track and Field I performed very well personally at the VHSL 4C Track & Field Championships in May 2019.  I place 3rd in the State in Long Jump and Triple Jump.    Additionally, I placed 6th in the 100M.  Videos of that race can be found on Mile Split at the following link: https://va.milesplit.com/athletes/7812409.

Now that I am here in America I'm determined to make a good life for myself.  I'm good at Track and Field and I know with training, I can be even better.  I know this will open opportunities for me.  I am a hard worker and I will work hard to make your team better.  I am excited about learning more and becoming a better athlete.
