I am relatively new to track and field, but eager to learn more about the sport and grow as an athlete. After 7 years of being a competitive, year round gymnast I decided to try track and field as a freshman in 2019. I quickly excelled in the jumping events, lettering my freshmen year, and breaking the school high jump record. I went on to qualify for the district and regional meets in long, triple, and high jump, and the VA state meet in high jump. This is my last year of gymnastics, so I’m excited to fill that void with more track and field training.
My single best characteristic is my strong work ethic, I bring it to both my academics and athletics. I am eager to improve, and will work hard to succeed. Throughout the spring and early summer of 2020 as gyms closed (Covid) and seasons canceled I continued to workout and train at home in order to keep up with my athletic skill. In addition, I also have excellent time management skills. Throughout the year I balance my gymnastics (9-12 hours week) and horseback riding (3 hours a week) schedule, while maintaining a 4.3 GPA. And, in the Winter and Spring I add track and field (10+ hours a week) to the schedule.
I am looking for a University with a high academic standard, so I can continue my education. As well as a school with a competitive track and field program that invests in their athletes, and has good team dynamic. I am a team player that enjoys the unity and collaboration a good team brings. I feel as though my journey in track and field has just begun, and that there is tremendous upside in my future as a jumper.
