My name is Aaliyah Speights, and I am a 5’4” senior at Wheeling Park High School in Wheeling, West Virginia. I am and have been part of the varsity track team at WPHS. My junior year was my first year competing at a high school level as I had injuries my freshman and sophomore year. I compete in long jump, 100m, and am the first leg in the 4x1. Some of my accomplishments include: 1st place at OVACs in my 5A division for long jump, qualified and went to states for long jump, our 4x1 team went to states and came in second while beating a 27 year long school record and qualifying and went to NBNO 2019 Nationals in North Carolina. What I can offer a team is that I am a leader and a very hard worker. I always help and lead the underclassmen. Outside of track season, I also have a personal trainer that I work out with 3-4 times a week.
The types of schools I am looking into are in the urban and suburban areas. I am looking for an out of state college or colleges on the west coast, up north and north east, but I am open to going anywhere. I want to find a good college to run track and get my degree. I am looking to major in communications design or athletic training, however it might change over time.
My athletic goal for college is to continue to further my long jump career and make a good impact on the team that I am on.
