I am Aleya Hadenfeldt and I am a genuinely determined individual. Track has been very close to my heart starting from a young age. Ever since I had my first track meet in preschool, I had looked forward to my school’s annual track meet to compete again. That is when my love for track blossomed. I want to go to the next level by being a part of track in college because it is what I love and it pushes me to improve day after day. When I was finally able to start competing at a high school level, I was a sophomore due to the loss of my freshman year because of the pandemic. From there, I was able to see that I was a competitive athlete. I learned that track builds more than just me as an individual, but builds teammates closer together by supporting each other. The environment of track brings out a positive and devoted side of me that I truly love showing.
When participating in track, I have certain characteristics and strengths that make me a competitive athlete. After each race, I talk to my coach about my technique and see the time I had. After I hear what my time is, I set a new goal: beat that time at the next meet. I am motivated and a committed individual to this sport and I show that through my performances. When I am not happy with my race at a meet, I use that to push me for the next time.
Looking at my past track seasons, I have developed specific goals that I want to meet for future seasons ahead. Looking towards my senior year at track next year, I want to make it to state in my events and I am going to train through cross country and over the winter to achieve that goal. I want to go beyond just high school track and continue into college. With track being my favorite sport, I am willing to try different events to see if I am also competitive in them. In the end, I am truly passionate about track and am willing to work diligently for it.
