Personal Statement

I was first introduced to pole vault when I joined track in seventh grade. I originally did not plan on trying pole vault. My mom was determined to change my mind. I am currently a level 10 gymnast and have been competing in this sport for the past 14 years; my mom is one of my coaches. She had seen the success that other gymnasts had in pole vaulting and felt I had the potential to be great as well. After I tried pole vaulting for the first time, I was in love! I continued to pole vault through middle school and into high school. So far in my high school career I have seen great success. During my sophomore year, I was the conference, regional, and sectional champion. I also received 2nd place at the Wisconsin State Meet. This past year, I was the conference, regional, and sectional champion once again. Rather than placing 2nd at state this year, I took 1st place and became a state champion! I also received all-state recognition.

I am very involved within my school and community. In my school, I am currently a member of key club, science club, NHS, student council, class advisory committee, fellowship of christian athletes, and pep band. In my community, I volunteer at my church, coach recreational gymnastics, and am a counselor at Porter Gymnastics Camp. Despite my busy schedule, I have been able to maintain a GPA of 4.2 along with highest honors every semester. I push myself academically by taking multiple AP classes each year.

I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program!
