Personal Statement

My main goal throughout this process is to reach my highest potential in both athletics and academics, while also becoming my personal best in strength and character. I hope to find a university that can encourage and push me in all aspects of my life and allow me to become a well-rounded, successful individual.  Every single day I work vigorously to improve my skills as an athlete and student to prepare myself for the future and push past any trials along the way. I have been involved in track and field since I was seven years old and since that time have been fully committed to chase my passion. Being active in high school and club track, holding a part-time job and volunteering in my community through my membership in my school’s National Honor Society helps me remain well-rounded. I also strive to be my best academically maintaining a 3.8 GPA and balancing honors and AP classes. I have become very skilled at time management, making important decisions, and juggling multiple responsibilities. I hope to find a school that can help me become stronger academically, and prepare me for a successful life while also maintaining a competitive athletic career. I strongly believe that athletically I have so much untapped potential. I know that by working with strong coaches, strength and nutrition staff I can push myself even further.

I believe that coaches only see one side of me while running on the track. Many of my other strengths include the commitment I show my team and coaches, and the attention I give my body and mind. I am constantly working to improve what goes into my body, always researching nutritional strategies. I work hard on sport pyschology skills along with mindfulness preparation through visualization, breathing exercises and yoga because I am a firm believer that this sport is half mental toughness. Strength is also important in my athleticism and I push myself in the weight room and through daily strengthening and conditioning to enhance my performance.  I am determined to get better each and every time I’m on the track, in the weight room, training and competing. My disipline has enabled me to become extremely hard working, driven and tenacious. Every set back I have experienced gives me that much more ambition to fight back. I think that I stand out because of my commitment to every fundamental of the sport. I also am coachable, take all feedback to heart and immediately make an effort to fix what I can address. On the track and off, I lead others with confidence, humility and focus.  I am extremely blessed and thankful for the talent God has given me and want to honor Him, working as hard as my body will allow me to. I want to continue to compete in college because not only do I believe that it will keep me focused personally, spiritually and academically, but that there are many more goals I have yet to achieve. I also look forward to building strong relationships with my teammates and coaches and find that family atmosphere that will help me reach my highest potential.
