Personal Statement
Moving from Fountain Hills, AZ to Calgary, AB was a huge transition and it made me step out of my comfort zone to meet new people and make friends. I have always been a focused student who looks for new opportunities and challenges. I displayed that earlier in my life when I worked hard to earn my Junior Black belt in Taekwondo. Through volleyball I have made so many new friends who have helped me change and grow into the person I am today. I’ve learned that sometimes I should take risks and do new things that will benefit me in the future. I first became interested in volleyball in grade 7 when I joined the junior volleyball team at school. The next year, I made the senior team and continued to develop my skills. Later in my grade 8 year I tried out for a club volleyball team named Canuck Stuff Volleyball Club where I played for two years before moving to the Cougars Volleyball Club for my last season. This season I've signed with the same team. This summer I also had the privilege to play on the Team Alberta U16 Blue Team and won 2nd place at the Canada Cup in Richmond, BC.
My academic goals for high school are to graduate with GPA higher than 3.5. I also want to make the most of my experience and opportunities and I feel that volleyball will be an important part of my high school journey. In university, my goal is to achieve my Bachelor’s degree in biology and get into medical school, all while playing volleyball. Throughout my volleyball career I have learned teamwork, leadership, and I know that I could bring these qualities to your team.
