Edie Nicholson '25 Recruiting Profile

Thanks you to all the coaches and schools who've reached out to me about their varsity athletics programs and opportunities.  I am excited to announce that I've committed to play Women's NCAA Div 1 Golf at Manhattan University in New York starting the fall of 2025!  While I'll miss playing competative Volleyball at a high level after my U18 season, I'm gratefull for the opportunity in front of me and relish the idea of competeing and improving on the links with my new team at MU - Go Jaspers!  

I'm the kid that played almost every sport growing up - you name it, I played it!  I started playing competitive Club Volleyball 5 seasons ago and I fell in love with it!  In the summer months, I play on the competitive Canadian Golf tours, and have done so for the last 7 seasons. I love being on a team and working together as a team! I also love that my teammates aren't just teammates, but many will be friends for life. 

I believe that you get what you work for.  As legendary coach Russ Rose said "you're either getting better or getting worse. I don't think you stay the same in sports. If we want to achieve something special in the game, then those players have to recognize that they are responsible every day for getting better." My commitment and hard work earned me a roster spot on a U16 Premier Club Volleyball team at only 14 years old! I am now in grade 12 at Westen Canada High School, and playing U18 Premier League Club Volleyball in Alberta.  In 2023 my team played, competed, and contended in the top division in the Province and at Nationals.

I've also found much success in the sport of Golf through the years.  I was the Overall Champion of the Alberta Jr. Golf tour in 2024 and 2022. As a member of the womens Redhawks golf team, my high school golf team won the 2024 and 2022 ASAA Provincial Golf Championships. The win in 2022 was my school's first Provincial Golf Championship win time in its 120 year history!  This year, I was named the ASAA Female Athlete of the Month for September.

Playing competitive sports at University while pursuing a post secondary education has always been a dream of mine, and I am determined to make varsity volleyball and/or golf a reality.
