Volleyball doesn't owe me anything. I am grateful to have found this sport. Through volleyball, I have learned dedication, sacrifice and teamwork. I have always been a very determined person. My parents say that when I'm on the court, I am my "best self". I agree with this. I thrive in situations that are hard. I live for the come back. I view my role, as a setter, to make my hitters feel like a million bucks. I strive to make all my teammates believe in themselves and push through any obstacles.
I'm a "chef" on the court. I cook up the recipes that will work best for each player. Even though we are a team, each player gets individual attention from me. I strive to make each player do the best that she can do. This means I study them. I figure out who needs a higher or quicker set. I work with my coach to come up with plays that make sense for each player. I have learned so much from my coach about this and will strive to keep learning and growing with every coach I will have the privilege of working with. I feel like I could never learn enough about volleyball and it's an education that I have great passion for.
I might not stand out academically, but one thing I can tell you: I know what it is to work hard. I have to work hard for my grades, but this attitude runs through all aspects of my life. You can count on my to put in the effort to get the job done.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I look forward to talking with you more!
