If you love something, pursue it and give it all you got. Volleyball is something that brings me joy. When I'm on the court I am a different person. It gives me a surge of confidence and I'm not afraid to do what is needed to be done to succeed even if I could possibly fail. The rush of adrenaline during every play, every block, every hit is indescribable. I love it. If this is something that can assist me in my pursuit of higher education then bring it on!
Optimism is something I believe should be applied to every situation in life especially on the court. In the 8th grade, I learned a very important lesson that has changed my perspective and my attitude. I learned that your attitude on the court affects the way you perform. Even if you completely screw up a play, quickly reflect, suck it up, move on, and smile it off. Not only does this mindset sharpen your physical performance but it also improves and uplifts the team . By easily shaking off a mistake and focusing on perfecting the next play, it displays leadership. When your team is losing their lead, they will look up to someone who refuses to let the score get them down. On every team I've been on, I am that person. And I continue to be that person on and off the court.
