Perseverance, confidence, focus, and determination all make a great volleyball player. My name is Sarina Perez and I am a sophomore at Whittier Christian High School in California. My collegiate goals are to get into the best possible college for my academic and volleyball skills. I aspire to become the best student and player I can be and I am currently working hard to make that a reality. I do not plan to give up on either one. I have an interest in studying Biology and possibly even becoming a veterinarian. I am constantly volunteering at different philanthropies as a member of National Charity League because I love being able to give, help, and support others. I am very devoted to my faith, serving God, and serving others. I am also currently in three AP classes. I am planning to take AP Biology as well so I can gain more knowledge for my career. One big academic goal I have is to get and keep a 4.0 or above. I have partially reached this goal by getting a 4.17 my first quarter of Sophomore year, giving me the second highest GPA on my varsity team. Since I did get a 4.17 I feel I am fully capable of getting that GPA again and keeping it. Being recruited would bring me one giant step closer to pursuing my future career. Volleyball wise, I plan to become the best player I can be. I continuously go to private lessons and I condition weekly to add on to my club and high school practices. I started out playing in third grade, but when I was younger I was testing other sports as well. It was in eigth grade when I realized how much I love volleyball. I quit playing basketball and dance so I could focus on volleyball and becoming a better player. I joined club in eigth grade and I went from being a substitute to being a starter. Because of club, I made Junior Varisty freshman year at a high school where being on Varsity as a freshman is not very common. After my second year of club, I made Varsity at my school. A major goal I have set for myself is to not only become a better player, but to be able to make my team a better team. Many people in the volleyball world compliment me for being hardworking and very coachable. I fell in love with the game because I was fascinated by the game's excitement and adrenaline. I love the feeling after I made a really nice point and the feeling after a win. I choose to play for my own good, my team's good, and for God's good. I believe that hard work brings great outcomes and I am willing to put as much as work as necessary in order to become a better student and athlete.
