Ever since I was little I've always been competitive and itching to win. I started with dance, then soccer, then basketball, track and even at home competing with my brothers. As I got older, I watched as my brother competed at the state championships for High School in track and field, he was recruited to be a D1 400 meter sprinter. I wanted to be just like him. I began working harder in my sports but when I picked up volleyball for the first time in fourth grade I knew I had found my passion. I joined my first club team in sixth grade and have been playing ever since. My freshman year at Acalanes High School I made the Jr. varsity team as a defensive specialist, ending the year with the second most digs and the second most consistent serves. Now I play libero on my club team which is going to AAU nationals in June. I will always work to be the best I can be and improve not only in volleyball but in school as well. I am a competitive player and love to win but when I'm on a team with others who are just as competitive and set on their goals is when I play my best. I will contribute to the team regardless of the role I play because I want what's best for the team. For example, I began playing outside hitter but as I grew up other girls got taller and it became clear that the best place for me to help the team was in the libero position. I loved hitting, but I dove into libero and ever since I switched over I have been committed to being the best libero I can be. My personal goal is to play D1 volleyball in college and I will do all that I can to reach that goal. I believe that I am a good candidate for a college team because I am committed to the work, winning, but also being a good teammate - supporting others' successes and picking others up when they are down. I am focused on my academics as well, as I move into my sophomore year I know keeping up in school is just as important as volleyball. It’s my dream that my friends, family, and brothers can one day watch me play in college to cheer me on and see how far I’ve come.
