Hello, my name is Savannah Bedjakian and i am the oldest of 3 girls in my family. I attend an Armenian college prep private school and had always had to compete with other athletes in my school because of the unfair connections through the selection of the team. I prepared to fight for my position by going to volleyball camps and clinics everyday in the summer. I also joined 2 different volleyball leagues and volunteered to assist coaching at a park and recreation leagueIt to gain more knowledge of the sport and teach others. It has been my 3rd try out to my High School Volleyball team, this year is my first time I made it and i was in Varsity as a starter (middle hitter) and made it to National 18U Forza1 West. So you can say an entire summer of volleyball was worth the results I got.
As I tried hard in my desired sport, I also tried hard academically and socially. Freshman year was tough because of the emotional abuse i had gone through in my middle/elementary school from bullying. But I was at a new environment, and I was trying to change myself for the better. All I knew is that I was different then most people in my class and I should learn to accept it. I was the only girl in my class that liked hard rock, alternative music, love for computers and art. I as well planned to take my love for arts and computers to college! But sadly my high school did not provide any support for either subject at the time so I had to teach myself through videos and books. I then gave my highschool the idea of adding art into the electives to where I enrolled myself and convinced a couple other friends to do the same. At the side I also discovered a couple of art classes around my home and applied myself there to gain more knowledge in the subject.
I learned that academically I have to try hard to get the grades I want. My first year was a struggle, but I made it through to take an Honor English and A.P. World History in 10th grade and continued on 11th grade taking A.P. Environmental Science and A.P. Computer Science. Now I'm in 12 grade taking A.P. English. My first quarter ended and my G.P.A is 3.55, I'm not too happy and I know have to work harder to bring it up.
I am still searching for the right college that will allow me to play volleyball and go after my career at the same time. I am looking forward to what the future would be and I hope the college I get in give me the opportunity to do both my passion.
