Hello My name is Athena Cox and my dream is to play collegiate volleyball. I have been in athletics my whole life playing mostly basketball and soccer but kept wanting to try volleyball because I was always tall and athletic. When I was in 7th grade I tried out for the school volleyball team and made it but was immediately shut down due to Covid closures here in California. There were no sports during my 8th grade year so I took a volleyball camp leading into my freshman year in High School and immediately fell in love with the sport and I want to continue to play it competitively as long as I possibly can! Although inexperienced I ultimately played on the varsity team my freshman year and earned a starting spot for the playoffs. After my Freshman year I searched for competitive Clubs in the area and everybody recommended Coast Volleyball Club so I tried out and made the 16-3 team and am now on a very competitive 17-2's team in one of the top clubs in the country for girls volleyball.
I am looking for a college that I can continue to grow as an athlete, a student, and as a person. I really shine under the bright lights so I want to play for a very competitive school and compete for championships. Academically I am looking to be challenged in school and I want to pursue a career in Sports Psychology and work with athletes as a career.
