Personal Statement
My goals are to be a successful, positive member of society. As I grow into adulthood I would like to have a career in psychology or law. These areas encompass analytical thinking and a great respect for humanity, which provide a perfect resource for volleyball. As a volleyball player, I am always thinking of how I can help my team in being receptive to areas on the court where we can have a positive outcome.
I believe that I am a good recruit for a college level team as I am a tenacious player and a hard worker. My style of play is explosive and calm at the same time. My philosophy is that you keep the same hunger for winning as you do from the beginning. Volleyball has made me more mentally tough than any other sport that I have played. I have learned to be receptive to different coaching styles and the immense diversity that usually is included on my team.
Academics are extremely important because to me they are the key to success. Your education can get you very far in life. Along with being a good volleyball player, you also have to be a good student because volleyball requires tough thinking skills. While playing school and club volleyball last year, I was able to maintain a 3.89 GPA for the entire year. This was the product of persistence and motivation to succeed on and off the court. My parents are extremely supportive of me becoming a good person overall as opposed to just an athlete. I was taught to live by the golden rule of treating others how you would want to be treated and this transcends over to my teammates.
