My passion for volleyball began in third grade when I joined an intramural volleyball team through my local youth organization called Brandywine Youth Club. I immediately developed a love for volleyball in a way that I hadn’t experienced before with any other sports. I tried out for club volleyball as soon as I was old enough to play and have played on the top team for my club/age group since I started. I also have continued to play volleyball year round since the age of twelve by participating on my school team as well. During the summer months, I enjoy attending clinics, camps, and lessons to further develop my skills.
My interest and desire to become a setter began during my 12U club season when my coach recognized my skill set for this position. Ever since this time, I have continued to play the setter position for both my school and club teams. What I love about being a setter is being an active participant on the court and always being challenged to get every ball to my hitters for the kill. I enjoy the fast pace of the game and always being on my toes to hustle to get to the ball. I love working as a team and the collaboration among all players to work together to achieve success on the court.
Academically, I work hard in the classroom. I am in several honors classes and made honor roll during my freshman year. I am proud to be a Class Representative on our Student Council where we plan events for our school and are a voice for students to our school leaders. This year will be my second year on the Student Council. In addition, I feel it’s important to contribute to my local community. I have been a referee for intramural volleyball games at Brandywine Youth Club for two years. Furthermore, I was the Intramural Volleyball Referee Coordinator in the spring of 2022 where I was in charge of overseeing the referees and creating the referee schedules.
It’s my desire to be able to continue my volleyball career in college. I am dedicated and focused on achieving this goal. Continuing to work hard, accept feedback from my coaches, and refine my setting skills will help prepare me to grow into the volleyball player I thrive to be in college.
