Growing up, I played a variety of different sports, but I never had the same passion for a sport than what I have for volleyball. I first started in the summer before 7th grade and ever since, this sport has changed my life for the better. Volleyball has shown me how to effectively manage my time, always do my best, and not only play to win, but also to have fun and create memories. Through this sport, I have learned that criticism and the mistakes you make are an important part of both learning the game and strengthening your mentality to accept that there is always room for improvement. Academically, I want to go to a college that would challenge me and educate me further in the career I choose. Although this sport requires commitment and much sacrifice, it is definitely worth it because it is my goal.
I remember when I first started playing, people told me I was too short to be a hitter in the future. Instead of falling into their deprecating opinions, I started weight training to increase my vertical. That training has helped me improve my hitting and blocking skills. I am a coachable athlete and I always try to incorporate the feedback my coaches give me in practice.
I would love to play volleyball at the college level so that I can continue to grow as a player.
