Bailey O'Brien '14 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Bailey O’Brien and I’m from Tampa, Florida. I am 17 years old and currently a junior at Newsome High School, in Lithia, Florida. I have been playing volleyball since I was 9 years old and still love and enjoy it. I have played for Sparks (Synergy), KP Elites, and for Tampa United, where I have played for the past two seasons. My freshman year I was JV captain and got pulled up to varsity at the end of our season for Districts. Last year I played on Varsity and played in all of our matches. My high school season is underway now and we’re doing phenomenal so far with a 4-0 record. I am the starting setter and we run a 5-1 offense. I am very excited for our upcoming games and my goal is to get to STATE!:) During the summer when I’m not at volleyball camps or conditioning, I play beach volleyball with one of my teammates, we have been partners for the past 3 summers. I have attended the Sports Performance Setting Academy Camp for 3 consecutive years and flew to Chicago for the Sport’s Performance 9 day Setting Academy in July. The techniques and reps I got there were exceptional and although it was very hard, it made me a significantly better setter on and off the court. I also had the privilege of being invited to the USAV National High Performance Developmental Camp at St. Leo University at 11 years old. Throughout high school I have maintained a GPA of 4.0 and have been on Honor Roll since elementary school. I am currently enrolled in all honors classes and Latin 3 and in Latin Honor Society. I have just over 50 hours of community service and I’m an active part of E.C.H.O. and my church’s mission trips. I always give 150% in everything I do and I’m always there to support and uplift my team. I was also a starter on my high school lacrosse team last year and was a part of the 2010-2011 varsity tennis team my freshman year. My club team this past year was Tampa United’s 16 Tampa team and my jersey number was 4. We played in the open division and ended up ranked in the top 11 in the state. I can run both a 5-1 and 6-2 and can play RS or DS if needed. I plan on majoring in either Biology or Marine Science and continuing on to get my master’s and doctorate in either major.
