Personal Statement
I am Celimar Hoyos and I am from Florida. I’ve been playing volleyball ever since I was 6 years old, back home in Puerto Rico and ever since then I haven’t stopped playing this wonderful sport. Along with volleyball, I also play beach volleyball and soccer. There are many goals that I plan on reaching. I want to win a GJNC championship, I want to win a high school state championship, I want to get a perfect SAT score, but the main thing I want to do is further my career, by playing college ball. I am a good candidate for any team, because I have a growth mindset and I am always ready to learn something new, to not only benefit me, but my teammates as well. I differ from other recruits character wise because I am easily coachable, charismatic and hard working. I know what it’s like to put in the time and to sacrifice the things that I love in order to achieve a goal. Additionally, I believe that a champion is not a title, but a mentality. I differ from other recruits athletic wise because I am a resilient player and I know how to be both a bench and court player. Athletically i’ve put in the work, the hours and the sacrifice. I have taken into account any and every piece of criticism that could make me a better player, but most importantly I have developed a competitive mentality where i’ve turned my losses into lessons. Lastly, I differ from other recruits in an academic way, because even with a hectic schedule and three high school sports I have been able to maintain a good gpa and good studying habits.
