Hi, my name is Katherine Westfall and I am a senior at Salmon High School in Salmon, Idaho. I am an honor student currently taking calculus. My grades are important to me, and I’m proud that I have been able to maintain a cumulative 3.6 GPA this year.
At school I participate in varsity volleyball, legacy choir, and jazz band, where I play the flute and the alto sax. I played on the basketball team until last year. Since last season I got a job at the local grocery store, and because I take a lot of time off work for volleyball, I felt I needed to skip basketball. I was the team manager however, and that allowed me to stay connected to the program while honoring my commitment to my job.
In my free time I am always up to float the river, or go hiking and mountain biking, or make a trip to the hot springs that surround Salmon.
I am looking to study Biology in college, and within that goal lies probably my biggest dream: to play college volleyball. I play the position of setter and right side hitter on my high school team and am a strong defensive player in the back row. I got all-conference honorable mention junior year, and I was also captain and MVP my sophomore year on JV and senior year on Varsity. Some of my goals this season were to be mentally strong, have a positive attitude, be a team player, and never give up.
I am a hard worker, a dedicated student, and a strong competitor and am excited to experience all the opportunities that are in store for me.
